Lee R. Zook
Lee R. Zook, 91, of Harlansburg Road, Hickory Township, died the morning of June 24, 2006, in his home. Born June 12, 1915, in Volant, he was a son of the late Andrew and Tillie Kauffman Zook. He was married to the former Marie M. Kenst for 59 years. She died in September 2004. Mr. Zook was a retired cement finisher for P.D. Schuller Construction. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Middleton of Hickory Township; a son, Thomas D. Zook of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother, Donald Zook of Phoenix; two sisters, Erma Campbell of Grove City and Blanche Rhodes of New Castle; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Zook and Earl Zook; and four sisters, Gertrude Lour, Esther Miller, Katherine Lehman and Edna Schlabach. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St., and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. David Middleton, son-in-law of Mr. Zook, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. |
